The Cabinet Office What Works Team was arguably the first organisation of its kind: a cross-governmental organisation established to “champion the testing and evaluation of new approaches to public service delivery”.
But it’s not the only organisation of its kind: similar units are now operating in Canada, the US, Finland, Australia, Colombia, and the UAE. What unites them, despite the differing contexts in which they work, are a number of key approaches to enabling experimentation, which Dr Jen Gold of the What Works Team summarises as follows:
- Joint trials
- Pooling expertise
- An open-by-default approach
For examples of these approaches, check out the original piece at the What Works Team blog.
