Listen to the people: Reykjavik’s experiment in e-democracy

At a time where many of us are suddenly getting to grips with a much larger percentage of our lives taking place online, it seems a good time to think about e-democracy.
The Better Reykjavik project uses an online platform to crowdsource ideas and so contribute to policy making. Previously only really seen within organisational settings to generate business ideas, the use of idea platforms to engage citizens in digital democracy is gaining traction across many European cities.
Why only listen to what people have to say once in a blue moon, at every election cycle, when modern technologies and e-governance allows the town hall debate to become a mainstay of local governance…
