Co-operative Councils Innovation Network – Beyond Asset Transfer: Harnessing Community Asset Transfer To Create Stronger Local Communities – July 1, 2021 10:00 AM
Effective use of community assets is critical to a well-functioning place and strong, resilient communities. But transferring assets to communities or not-for-profit organisations is not always easy, even when you know it is the right solution.
The Co-operative Councils’ Innovation Network (CCIN), in partnership with affiliate member Mutual Ventures, will launch their latest report – Beyond Asset Transfer – which seeks to demystify the process and encourage more councils to be bold in their plans for community assets. The free webinar gives CCIN Members the chance to think through the opportunities around asset transfer in their area.
Cllr Sharon Taylor OBE, Chair of the Co-operative Councils’ Innovation Network and Leader of Stevenage Borough Council, Cllr Joyce McCarty, Chair of the CCIN’s Values & Principles Board and Cabinet member for Inclusive Economy – Newcastle City Council, Gray Hill – Director, Insole Trust Cardiff and John Copps from Mutual Ventures will make up the expert panel.
During the session the speakers will cover:
1. The benefits and challenges around transferring assets to community groups
2. Good practice and learning from real-life examples in Newcastle and Cardiff
3. What we know about the government’s new Community Ownership Fund and its potential to support local areas
In this webinar, there will be a chance for Q&As at the end, or you can also submit any questions ahead of the session to: comms@councils.coop
To discover how to truly harness your local community asset transfer to build back stronger, this webinar is a must.
