The PSTA seeks to bring together everything useful for public service transformation, so we list all events, news, and resources which we believe may be useful, alongside our own events and materials. Inclusion signals that we support the espoused purpose of the event or content and believe it is worth looking into, but is not a guarantee of quality.

Can we close the attainment gap for children with social care experience?
February 27, 2020 @ 5:30 pm - 9:00 pm
Event Navigation

Many young people with experience of children’s social care frequently experience challenges in education and are less likely to progress to higher education. On average, they have lower educational attainment than their peers, and young people eligible for free school meals.
While the need to support these vulnerable children and young people to achieve their potential is clear, the best way to do so is not.
At this event, in association with the Alliance for Useful Information, What Works for Children’s Social Care will share the findings from their new reanalysis of data from 64 randomised controlled trials conducted by the Education Endowment Foundation. The project, the first of its kind, identifies educational interventions which show potential in decreasing the attainment gap for young people with a social worker. We will also hear from those working across the sector to improve the outcomes of children and young people.
Registration will open at 17:30 with the event starting promptly at 18:00. The session will finish at 20:00 with the opportunity to continue the conversation and learn what your peers might be doing in this space until 21:00.
