London Councils* has helped to negotiate a devolution deal with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) around the Work and Health Programme in London.
This programme will support disabled people, people with long term health conditions and people who are long term unemployed to enter and sustain work. It is anticipated that the programme will provide employment support to just under 55,000 people, with a total programme spend of £136m across London. There will be four Work and Health Programmes in London, led by sub-regional partnerships in London.
In this free seminar Dianna will talk about why London government pressed for this programme to be devolved and the issues that the programmes will address in the capital. She will also discuss the process of designing and commissioning the programmes across the four sub-regions (including differences between this and the DWP’s approach), the anticipated benefits of the devolved approach in London, progress to date and lessons learnt.
