Monday 9 November 2026, 13:00-14:00 GMT, online. Optional community-of-practice conversation, 14:00-15:00 GMT.

What does systems convening look like in practice, and what helps the work continue when organisational circumstances change?

Liz Williams, the founding leader of Surrey’s NHS and local-authority System Convening team, will share the team’s experience of bringing people and organisations together around complex challenges. She spent three and a half years as Strategic Convener for learning disabilities and autism.

The session will explore a relational approach to public services: working across organisational boundaries, building coalitions, and helping people act together on the challenges in their lives. The organisers also describe how the team’s work came to a halt following cuts to NHS Integrated Care Boards, making this an opportunity to discuss both the practice and the conditions needed to sustain it.

There will be time for questions. Participants can then stay for an optional second hour with others interested in relational public services and systems convening, to share challenges and opportunities.

Matthew Mezey has shared the invitation with the Systems Convening community. All are welcome; register through the organiser’s Zoom page.
